The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®) is seeking an experienced national leader in health information technology to serve as Chair of its Board of Commissioners.
The Chair of the CCHIT Board of Commissioners serves as the strategic and operational leader of the Board of Commissioners to ensure effective certification policy and process. The Chair serves as the expert spokesperson for CCHIT, engaging with public and private sector stakeholders to ensure broad understanding and support of the organization’s activities. The Chair works closely with the CCHIT Chief Executive Officer on both strategic and tactical matters in order to fulfill the mission of the organization.
Led by the Chair, the 21-member Board of Commissioners oversees the drafting, public review, and final approval of health information technology (“HIT”) certification criteria that are developed in detail by the organization’s 250-member volunteer workforce, facilitated by CCHIT staff. Also under the Chair’s leadership, the Board of Commissioners makes strategic decisions regarding the expansion of certification into new domains, and ensures the objectivity and credibility of CCHIT’s decisions. Members of the Board of Commissioners are senior executives representing a wide range of stakeholders across the private and public sectors of healthcare and HIT.
The Chair of the Board of Commissioners, together with the Chief Executive Officer, is accountable to the 9-member CCHIT Board of Trustees, participating in meetings of the Trustees in a nonvoting, ex officio capacity. The CCHIT Board of Trustees is the fiduciary body of the nonprofit CCHIT corporation responsible for fiscal oversight and stewardship of assets.
