SUMMARY
The Education Program Manager is responsible for developing and executing education programs and published educational resources for health information technology (HIT) companies, provider organizations and other developers who are planning to bring their electronic health record (EHR) products and technologies for inspection and certification by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). In addition, the Education Program Manager will participate in the development of outreach programs designed to inform physicians, hospitals and other providers about CCHIT, its certification programs and the value of choosing certified EHR products and technology.
This is a full time, employed position and may be based in CCHIT’s Chicago office or work remotely.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Education Program Manager reports directly to the Marketing Director and takes technical guidance from the Marketing Manager and the Certification Technology team who manage CCHIT’s Web-based tools and services. The Education Program Manager will also work in close collaboration with the Certification Program, Development and Technology teams for the creation of educational content.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Education Program Manager develops and executes education programs delivered through a variety of channels. Specific responsibilities include:
Develop and execute education programs for health information technology (HIT) companies, provider organizations and other developers for their use as they prepare for certification:
- In cooperation with the Certification Program team, assess the educational needs of this community and recommend programs and tools for development, including the required resources and delivery methods;
- Manage the content development of selected education programs, including the design, editing and delivery of supporting educational tools;
- In collaboration with the Certification Program and Marketing teams, manage the delivery of education programs through both onsite and Web-based methods, including venue and technology evaluations;
- Establish an available library of educational tools and publications and keep it refreshed;
- Evaluate and report on the success of the education programs.
Develop and support a Web-based knowledge base tool for the use of all stakeholders but especially health information technology (HIT) companies, provider organizations and developers who are searching for information about CCHIT’s certification programs – the criteria and referenced standards, and program policies:
- In collaboration with the Marketing Manager and Certification Technology team, evaluate selection of and deploy a Web-based knowledge base tool allowing stakeholders to effectively self-serve answers to commonly asked questions and find solutions to frequently encountered technical issues;
- Work with the Certification Program, Development and Technology teams to ensure appropriate content is available;
- Monitor the usage of the knowledge base tool, making recommendations for content refresh.
Assist the Marketing team in the development and delivery of outreach programs designed to inform physicians, hospitals and other providers about CCHIT, it programs and choosing certified products:
- In collaboration with the Marketing Director, participate in the development of content and resources for use by CCHIT’s boards, volunteers and staff in communicating with these stakeholders;
- In collaboration with the Marketing Manager, participate in the design and development of Web-based resources for these stakeholders;
- Assist in the preparation of CCHIT’s boards, staff and other volunteers for outreach events.
Assist the Marketing team in supporting effective communications between its boards, staff, volunteers and constituents.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. The Education Program Manager will possess at a minimum 5-8 years of work experience in health care or health IT, with at least 5 years experience in developing and delivering educational programs. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated understanding of Web-based educational technology and good technical skills in presentation and educational design. The Manager must have excellent skills managing projects across organizational teams. Travel required (8 to 10 trips per year).
