Jurors for certification testing

The Commission’s inspection process in its independently developed CCHIT Certified program is a rigorous test of health information technology (HIT) using three methods: jury-observed demonstration, inspection of self-attestation materials and technical testing.

For its CCHIT Certified program* inspection, the Commission empanels a team of three clinical jurors, one of whom must be a practicing physician, and an IT security evaluator to assess a technology's conformance to the CCHIT certification criteria. The inspection occurs by observing the performance of the applicant's technology in executing a series of test scripts and reviewing required materials supplied by the applicant.

Juror performance is monitored by the Commission for consistency, reliability, and lack of bias.

The jurors are selected from among qualified individuals applying during open recruitment periods that are announced on the Web site and in CCHIT eNews. No conflict of interest may exist with companies who bring technology for inspection. Jurors may not participate in the promotional programs of any HIT company.
