Pilot testing certification test scripts
In preparation for the launch of its 09 certification program, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology invites EHR vendors to apply for participation in the 09 Pilot Test.
Apply to become a pilot participant by completing and submitting the pilot application by January 4, 2009.
The Pilot Test is designed to validate criteria, test steps, and testing tools against real products and to solicit vendor comment to fine tune the inspection process. Benefits to the selected vendors include:
- The CCHIT Pilot process provides the opportunity for applicants to review and practice the new 09 functionality, interoperability, and security requirements before the 09 certification period begins on July 1, 2009.
- The Pilot Test includes an inspection with a proctor-facilitated live
demonstration and jury. CCHIT may also ask Pilot participants to supply self
attestation materials for the new 09 requirements.
- Pilot applicants should be prepared to carry out all test script requirements for 09, if possible.
- Pilot Tests are used to validate and refine the CCHIT test scripts and criteria statements. They are not used to evaluate a specific product.
- Participation in the pilot provides no guarantee of results during
subsequent official certification testing.
- There is no fee or reimbursement for Pilot Test participation. Pilot Test
participants are required to pay the full standard fee if they subsequently
apply for official 09 certification.
- Pilot participants may begin preparing using the first draft test scripts that will be published at cchit.org on December 22, 2008.
- A second draft version of those test scripts will be revised based on the
outcomes of alpha tests and public comment. Revised scripts will be distributed to the selected Pilot participants prior to the Pilot Tests.
- Pilot participants must sign and submit the CCHIT 09 Pilot Test Agreement.
- Pilot participants are requested to provide feedback by completing a survey form distributed after the Pilot Test.
- CCHIT will announce Pilot participants when all Pilot Testing is completed. A certificate of acknowledgment will be provided to each participant.
- Pilot participants may disclose their participation in the process, abiding by the CCHIT Pilot Test Agreement and CCHIT’s public relations guidelines. Participants must not imply that their product has been or will be certified based on the Pilot Test outcome.
Organizations interested in participating in the pilot program, must complete and submit a pilot application by January 4, 2009.
