Pilot testing Network certification test scripts

In preparation for the October launch of its 2008 Network certification program, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology is inviting Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) to apply for participation in the 2008 Pilot Test

The Pilot Test is designed to validate criteria, test steps, and testing tools against real products and to solicit vendor comment to fine tune the inspection process. Benefits to the selected vendors include:

  • Testing new HIEs against the 2008 proposed test scripts without a fee
  • Checking the readiness of both HIE and staff for an actual inspection
  • Providing valuable feedback that will be used to refine the final criteria and testing process
  • Public announcement of participation at the end of the Pilot Test

Pilot Details

The highlights of the pilot process are as follows:

  • There is no fee or reimbursement for Pilot Test participation.  Pilot Test participants must pay the full standard fee when and if they subsequently apply for official certification.
  • CCHIT will announce pilot participants.
  • Pilot participants may disclose their participation but may not make any other disclosures regarding the results or pilot process, or imply that their product has been/will be certified.
  • The pilot test will include an inspection with a proctor-facilitated live demonstration and jury. CCHIT may also ask pilot participants to supply self attestation materials for 2008 requirements.
  • CCHIT will seek feedback on the 2008 pilot version of the test scripts.
  • Pilot participants should begin preparing using the test scripts that are currently published on our public Web site.
  • The next version of those test scripts will be revised based on the outcomes of our alpha test and the feedback from this public comment period. Those revised scripts will be distributed to selected pilot participants well in advance of the pilot tests.
  • Participation in the pilot provides no guarantee of results during subsequent official certification testing.
  • Pilot participants are required to provide feedback by promptly and fully completing a survey form.
