Work Groups
CCHIT thanks work group volunteers serving during the 2009-2011 term, now completed. Our work group members have demonstrated the power of volunteers – nearly 300 engaged across the organization – to collaborate on the important goal of advancing the adoption of robust, interoperable health IT. Our work together in championing the value of certification has national recognition and impact. Evidence is mounting that physicians and hospitals are increasing their investment in EHR technology and CCHIT's volunteers have played an important part.
CCHIT’s trustees, commissioners and senior staff are currently considering future program development priorities and the impact of federal program timelines. While we remain committed to our original mission, we recognize that federal compliance will remain a foundation for certification programs for some time to come. We also believe that CCHIT’s independently developed programs should continue to focus on encouraging HIT adoption by reducing provider risk in purchase, implementation and usage, by supporting patient care quality, safety and coordination, and by advancing the secure exchange of patient health information.
CCHIT is evolving as a certification organization and we hope to bring shape to new plans over the coming months. We will keep you informed of opportunties for further volunteer participation through our electronic newsletter, CCHIT eNews, Twitter and Facebook.
