    CCHIT Develops ACO HIT Framework

Among the many factors that will contribute to the success of an accountable care organization is a focused HIT roadmap that aligns the organization's resources with its goals and objectives for accountable care.

To provide that guidance, CCHIT has developed an ACO HIT Framework. The Framework is a guide to developing a technology roadmap that will mitigate some of the risks associated with taking on accountability for costs, quality of care and patient loyalty. It is designed as a starting point for provider groups developing HIT roadmaps, for payers looking to assess or complement the HIT capabilities of their provider partners, and for HIT developers designing products to fill gaps in currently available technology.

Download the ACO HIT Framework at: www.cchit.org/hitframework.

From the Chair: Evaluating HIT beyond EHR Certification

For health IT product certification to truly be of value, healthcare providers need clear knowledge of the rigor of the certification program and what it intends to accomplish. As the HIT landscape becomes more complicated, providers may need to think beyond the first step of ONC certification to consider other methods of assessing the technology that will be necessary to care for patients effectively and efficiently in the future.

Read Dr. Karen Bell's, Letter from the Chair for her comments on what other aspects should be considered.

CCHIT Responds with Public Comment on ONC 2014 Edition Test Methods

CCHIT offered public comment on the ONC-published test procedures, applicable tools and test data files for the 2014 Edition EHR certification criteria contained in Health Information Technology: Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria for Electronic Health Record Technology, 2014 Edition; Revisions to the Permanent Certification Program for Health Information Technology, Final Rule.

The full draft methods are referenced at: http://www.healthit.gov/policy-researchers-implementers/2014-edition-draft-test-methods.
