Work in Progress

CCHIT's development process for its independent programs is carefully constructed to be consensus-based, open and transparent. Based upon the guidance of the board of Trustees and its advisors, staff research and widely accepted industry standards, CCHIT's development includes the following steps:

  • Volunteers are recruited as needed and receive broad guidance from the Trustees and its advisory panels on the organization's mission, timelines and their scope of work. The groups are also provided with staff-prepared reference material that lays out the available evidence regarding the needs and priorities of all stakeholders in the area being considered as well as recognized standards and market models.
  • Volunteers create iterative drafts of program content based on their collective expertise, the Trustee's guidance and any supporting material gathered by staff. Drafts are published for public comment; comments are responded to and published.
  • Based on comments received, the program content is further refined.  In relevant cases, a full pilot test of the program is conducted.
  • Following Trustee approval, the final program is launched along with education on program policies and other necessary guidance.

No programs are currently under development at this time.
